Bio
LAVALU | Composer | Artist
As an artist LAVALU scratches the back of classical music while poking the fires of pop.
She is in the midst of creating a contemporary trilogy,
inspired by composers such as Debussy and Satie.
The Rise trilogy is her finest work to date.
Part I & II –Solitary High & Midair- received much critical acclaim.
Now she launches the final chapter, called: EARTHBOUND.
She’s expanded her sound with the help of cello, viola and backing vocals.
But with this seemingly classical trio she takes more effect pedals to the stage, than any given pop act.
LAVALU has succeeded in developing a style
in which influences of the great singer-songwriters
and the classical composers can be heard combined.
LAVALU has been creating albums since 2009 when she received much critical acclaim for her jazz-pop crossover album Now. She performed at Montreux Jazz Festival (CH), Noorderslag (NL) and over 350 clubs and festivals. Besides performing her own songs LAVALU is a composer for theatre productions. The past summers 20 newly written songs were featured in the sold out theatre spectacle Het Pauperparadijs (The Pauper’s Paradise), based on the best selling novel by Suzanna Jansen. LAVALU got nominated for ‘Best Music’ in the Musical Awards 2019. She has composed and arranged for choirs and orchestras e.g. the Residentie Orchestra and the Gelderland Philharmonic Orchestra.
This spring she’ll be touring with her album Earthbound throughout
14 concert venues in The Netherlands, having it’s premiere at The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam om April 8th.
